The Black Eyed Peaswill beyour halftime entertainment for the 2011 Super Bowl, a fact that severely underwhelms me. Look, I understand the role pop music plays in our culture, but that doesn’t mean I want to hear a crappy“rap” group do medley of pop hits disguised as hip hop. Apparently, however,I’m in the minority. Whatever the case, when“Let’s Get it Started” kicks in, I’ll be wishing for a repeat ofTom Petty’s performance.
That,or Prince.
Who knows? Maybe I’ll get lucky and the Peas will use this opportunity to announce their return to true hip hop and celebrate it by performing“Joints and Jams.”
However, I’m sure we’ll be subjected to such“hits” like“Boom Boom Pow” and“My Humps.”
Sigh.
